How come on the back of semi-permanent hair dye boxes it shows the color? (details)?

on the back of semi-permanent hair dye boxes it shows what color ur hair will come out if u use the product but everyone says u cant lighten hair w/ semi prm dye????



im talking not much lighter i have dark brown and want to got to a medium brown or maybe a lil lighter and im gonna use a brand like loreal or something



if u have reccommendations for products only say the ones u can get at cvs pharmacy

The reason why they do this is to give you an idea of how that color will look against your current color. I use Clairol natural instincts. I love it, I never use the permanent color. Its bad for your hair. Anytime you use color in your hair it will dry it out a bit but the chemical that makes the color permanent is what does the most damage. I have found that perminant color fades out around the same time as the 28 wash dyes.

no, if your hair is really dark it won't lighten with just dye. go to a professional. chances are it will come out horrible if you use the boxes.

because the hair dye is meant to be used for someone who has light hair, and would be going darker with the dye. if you are lightening your hair, the only option is bleaching it. you can't undo bleaching, you can only dye over it.
